Shark Tank funded Koparo’s revenue soar 7X in FY23, expenses cross Rs 7 Cr

Delhi-based D2C firm Koparo’s revenue jumped 7.3X to Rs 4.4 crore in FY23 with operations contributing over Rs 4 crore. The preceding fiscal year, the company recorded a revenue of Rs 62 crore.

Founded by Simran Khara, Koparo Clean is a toxin-free home-care products brand. The plant-based product claims to be safe for kids as well as pets. It offers a natural alternative to the regular cleaning products. It currently has over 15 products and over 30 SKUs across core cleaning, specialty cleaning, and accessories. The products are available through its own website, e-commerce sites and around 70 Reliance Retail and Modern Bazaar stores.

It saw expenses widen 3.7X to Rs 7.8 crore in FY23. While over 30% of the overall expenses was contributed by commissions, cost of materials and employee benefits took up over 20% and close to 13% of the expenses.

The four-year-old company raised over Rs 5 crore from 4P Capital Partners and from Rs 70 lakh from Shark Tank India earlier this month in its Pre-Series A round. Aman Gupta, co-founder of boAt and Vineeta Singh, co-founder of Sugar invested in the company.

While Simran Khara hold over 40% of the company’s shares, Saama Capital and 4P Capital own over 13% and 7% respectively. The company is yet to receive funds raised at the Shark Tank India. Accordingly, its shareholding and valuation will change.

In FY23, Koparo’s losses grew to Rs 3.4 crore, an over two-fold rise as compared to its previous fiscal year. It saw an improvement in both its EBITDA margin and ROCE with -76.48% and -32.57% respectively.
