Shark Tank funded Perfora records 10.6X jump in scale in FY23

Oral care brand Perfora witnessed it’s a 10.6X jump in its scale in its second year of revenue generation in FY23.

While its first-year recording revenue, FY22, generated a little over Rs 1.4 crore with the entirety of its coming from operations, the fiscal year ending March 2023 registered Rs 15.3 crore in its top line with 98% of it coming in from operations.

Gurugram headquartered Perfora is a modern and functional oral care brand offering a holistic portfolio of oral care products, including morning and night toothpaste, alcohol-free mouthwash, amongst other products.

The Jatan Bawa and Tushar Khurana led company aims to elevate the oral care experiences of the consumers with clean and effective products. The company also looks to educate people about how they can improve their oral health.

The healthcare and wellness brand has secured a total of over Rs 30 crore through 5 fundraises. Its latest Seed round was raised last February with RPSG Capital Ventures leading the round. The round also saw support from the likes of Sauce and Huddle among others.

A couple of days prior to its Seed round, the company had raised over Rs 80 lakhs in an Angel round led by the likes of Peyush Bansal, Namita Thapar, and Vineeta Tejpal Singh through Shark Tank.

The three-year-old company’s largest shareholder are its founders hold equal shares of over 30%. Investor Sauce VC and Lotus Holdings are among those who hold a significant share in the company.

The company is currently valued at Rs 38.9 crore.

It incurred losses amounting to Rs 4.9 crore in the fiscal year ending March 2023. This was a 4.6X rise as compared to its preceding fiscal’s Rs 1.1 crore. Perfora’s currently EBITDA margin and ROCE stands at -32.12% and -21.67% respectively.

The company’s major expense in FY23 was cost of material; the segment took up over Rs 9.8 crore. Advertisement and promotional costs and employee benefits came in close taking up over Rs 7 crore and Rs 1 crore respectively. This pushed its overall expenses to Rs 20.2 crore, an 8.1X rise from FY22’s Rs 2.5 crore.
